The US State Department sees easy employment in South Korea as a great way to releave unemployment pressures for recent graduates. Articles such as this one from the Atlanta Journal, encourage young adults to 'try their luck' in Korea. The US State Department also limits or makes difficult to access accurate information concerning the safety of expatriates in South Korea. US mainstream media is discouraged from exposing or embarrassing South Korea's dirty secret of xenaphobia, institutionalized racial discrimmination, hate crimes, publically popular hate group AES or just how South Korea keeps its crime rate so low. Some might point to North Korea as a reason the US bends to the will of South Korea. But after living in South Korea for 6 years, I've seen it's common knowledge among Koreans that the whole North South issue is a play for international aid and a bargining chip for international concessions. Koreans dont fear attack from the North, often they will laugh and say if anyone is attacked it will be Japan. So why is the US government REALLY there? Why is it ok for US citizens to be lead to the slaughter?
